Sports Cartooning was a great interest of mine in this period and the Sports Editor liked my work.

In fact, a couple of years later we both won trophies for our work together from the Empire State Scholastic Press Awards.

Cartoonists Milton Canniff and Al Capp were the Judges when I won that trophy for First Place and Honorable Mention in the New York State competition. Our Journalism Advisor told me that Al Capp wanted to meet me and that I should call him in NYC.

I never called because by that time I had decided not to continue studying Art, but to get into Broadcasting. I am really sorry that I didn't follow up and make that call. It would have been an interesting experience.
